Teaching Philosophy
As a professional musician, teaching helps reinforce my commitment to music. I teach violin, viola, and music theory to students of all ages. My lessons are an open dialogue between me and the student where I encourage questions and musical exploration. Creating music is fun and a way for students to be creative and feel proud of themselves. I believe that the lessons and discipline you learn in music can be applied to any area of study.
Studio Policy
I welcome students of all ages into my studio! It's never too late to start music, but it might be too early for some. I suggest that young beginning students complete first grade before starting instrumental study because they have some experience in a focused classroom setting. I encourage parents to take an active part in their child's musical education by sitting in on lessons, taking notes, and taking them to concerts. Learning to play music takes time and commitment, that's why I expect my students to practice their instrument a little every day.
